People are not understanding, the Far Right and the Far Left are being driven by Ideological purity where the strength of American Democracy is moderation in the Center. By and large this is the result of year after year of increasing Christian extremism driven by Fundamentalist Christians voting on Abortion and Traditional Marriage. The Tea Party and the Progressive elements keep pushing but really the Christian Right is much more organized and is driven more and more to the extreme, where the Left is not really more radical than Ted Kennedy or Adlai Stevenson. It’s not a balanced shift, the right is winning.
Fundamentalist Christians Reject Science and intellectualism and they are incapable of benefiting poor dumb white people because the system is rigged to make them vote for unpopular causes like Pro Life and Traditional marriage and hostility to Gay people, they get madder and madder every year because it never seems to get better, but they get some gains in the two issues the Libertarians drive them with, Abortion and Traditional Marriage. You have to chase these people out of the public sector in a Democracy, if they were a majority they would install theological fascism, they are not democratic and are extremist by nature. Now the Far Left on the other hand is fixated on outdated Marxist concepts and lose constantly because they are fighting religious extremists, not Wall Street as a whole (Hillary won by three million popular votes). But instead driven by Libertarian, free market types driving fundamentalist Christians to weaken the central Government (States Rights).
The the way to win is to chase the Fundamentalist Christians back into the shadows, when I was a kid a Homeschooling was seen as freakish, it’s now almost normal in the Christian Right to laud Homeschooling. This is really a Southern White way to avoid integrated schools. The John Birch Society renamed itself the Christian Coalition and now dominates the GOP. The whole drown the Gubbermint in the Bathtub garbage is to prevent any more action like the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s. In other words to defeat the popular will and replace it with God’s Will as seen by a Christian Fundementalist.
